The Honey from Heather (sousoura) is a product of great nutritional value and that is why it is extremely suitable for the stimulation of our organism. Recommended for children and elderly people suffering from anemia. It has odor and flavor characteristic I like particularly demanding consumers. Crystallizes quickly, in a to three months. It’s dark. There are two types ereikomelou with different properties each. So we have honey of heather autumn and spring heather honey. H spring and autumn heather (or sousoura) is one of the most important bee plants of Greece. It produced almost throughout the country.
Taste: It is more delicious than the spring heather and distinguished for its strong taste.
Aroma: Characteristic, delicate aroma.
Crystallization: Due to the high natural content of glucose crystallize very quickly (within about 1-3 months) and therefore
not suitable for mixing with other honeys and creating commercial types (blends).
Honey also sours more easily than other types of honey, because it has high humidity and high content in yeasts.
Nutritional value: The ereikomelo (mainly in autumn) is considered a very nutritious honey and particularly tonic for the human body, so it is mainly sold in health food stores.The Heather Honey is among the elite of the Greek honeys
and it is especially preferred by demanding consumers.

In Greece, apiculture does not involve the intense exploitation of bees and organised monocultures of mass produced, low cost & low quality honey.
Greek apiculture in protected Natura 2000 regions allows bees to feed exclusively on pure pollen, far away from chemicals, pesticides & industrial zones.
Due to the dry climate of Greece, honey has low water content and therefore it is slightly processed.
This has as a result a more aromatic, more dense and richer in flavours and ingredients honey.
