Description

Agrimonia, commonly known as Asprozaki or Phonohorto or Agroimia, is a genus of 12-15 species of perennial flowering herbaceous plants of the Rhododendron family, native to the temperate regions of the northern hemisphere, with one species in Africa. The species grows between 0.5-2 m in height, with dashed pteroid leaves, and with tiny yellow flowers being born alone (usually without branches). All of its plants are dark green with many soft hairs, which help the pod seeds attach to any animal or human that comes in contact with the plant. The tips of the flowers have a pungent odor, like apricots. Its roots are deep rhizomes, from which the stems originate. It is characterized by the typical serrated edges of its pteroid leaves. It acts as an astringent, tonic, diuretic, healing and cholagogue, is used in indigestion and is indicated for urinary incontinence, cystitis and helps a lot as a drink for coughs, laryngitis, colds, tonsillitis, but also as gargling mucosa of the oral cavity.
